LAPLANDICA’s website has now equipped itself with a new look and a new wardrobe! Situated almost a stone’s throw north of the Arctic Circle in northern Sweden, Laplandica represents an outdoor educational venture directed to you who enjoy learning new things by experiencing them. Laplandica is environmentally concerned and follows environmentally sound practices.
As before, Laplandica still offers a welcoming variety of tours and experiences for those who want to learn more about life in the U.N. world heritage area of LAPONIA, the waters and forests of the subarctic region of Jokkmokk or learn skills that may make your visit more rewarding. Skills and experiences that perhaps you can take home with you and use in the future.
Special -
This coming year of 2008-2009, Laplandica is taking a leave of absence from the ordinary and is heading for the extraordinary Shetland Islands. A new and totally different experience. We want to welcome visitors to this adventure and will be reporting on our experiences, discoveries, people and the way of life on Shetland.

Who is this? Approaching an age that I never could believe, I have my roots in the U.S. and 38 years in Sweden. I’ve walked two paths, learned two languages, learned two cultures and have no regrets for this broad experience. If you’re curious about more practical things, I would answer…

-Considered a “specialist” with cataloging and inventory of older mines
-Published research works, lectures, seminars etc.
-Have worked with a variety of professionals and tradesmen
-With some 30 years as a backpacker functioning in Laponia
-Have many practical trades in my back pocket
-Family, though the boys have left
-Enjoy animals especially dogs. Owned horses and have driven them
